Odex 90 system casing 178 for well drilling;Symmetric/ODEX Eccentric Casing System
For small-hole sizes, Prodrill produces the ODEX Eccentric Overburden Drilling System, starting with the ODEX90 to suit 127mm O.D. casings. This two-piece system comprises the shanked bit holder and the eccentric pilot bit that is secured in the bit holder by a double interlocking pin. This is easily removed to allow for bit re sharpening or replacement. Prodemo ODEX overburden drilling systems are widely used in a variety of applications from well drilling and minipilling to rock anchoring and site investigation.
The Symmetric Casing Drilling System consists of three parts: central pilot bit, casing shoe and symmetrical ring bit. The central pilot bit drills away the center part of the hole and guides the drill string, incorporated with a sacrificable symmetrical ring bit make a full face drill bit. The casing shoe is welded or threaded to a casing pipe, which is pulled down by the impact of the DTH hammer and central pilot bit. The symmetrical ring bit and casing shoe assembly is locked into central pilot bit with a hammer shank, and the ring bit is to drill the segment the casing to advance down the hole. The pilot bit’s upper shoulder engages the shoulder of the casing shoe. DTH hammer’s impact energy is transferred through the pilot and ring bits, crushing rock, part of impact energy advances casing. On completion of drilling and casing, the drill string with pilot bit is retrieved by a slight reverse rotation to unlock the bayonet coupling. The ring bit stays in the hole, and can be recovered only if the casing is retrieved. Drilling continues to the desired depth in the bedrock using a conventional drilling.

1. When drilling starts , the reamer swings out and reams the pilot-hole wide enough for the casing tube to slide down behind the drill bit assembly
2. When the required depth is reached , rotation is reversed carefully, whereupon the reamer swings in , allowing the drill bit assembly to be pulled up through the casing.
3. Casing tubes that are to be left in the drill hole should be sealed at the bottom of the hole by means of cement grout or some other sealing agent.
4. Drilling continues to the desired depth in the bedrock using a conventional drilling.
